Tratto: e-bike product animation
A 32-second vertical concept film for a fictional premium e-bike, following one red line from pencil sketch through technical refinement to a dimensional product reveal.
Self-directed concept by Motionwisp. The brand and product are fictional; this is a craft demonstration, not a client campaign.
The creative brief
Tratto is a self-directed concept film for a fictional premium e-bike. The brief was to make product development itself the story: begin with an uncertain mark, refine it into a frame and end with a finished bicycle in motion-ready form. One red line carries that progression across paper, technical drawing, illustration and 3D product imagery.
The opening pencil draws an angular path that becomes the bicycle’s top tube and frame. Successive sketches add wheels, measurements and handwritten notes before an erasing pass removes unnecessary lines. The finished red frame then gains its black components and moves into a lightly illustrated city. Range and hill-assistance messages appear in the environment rather than as a separate specification card.
The visual argument is reduction: the design is shown as something revised until its essential silhouette remains. The final line travels out of the product scene and becomes the handwritten Tratto wordmark, tying process, object and identity together. The takeaway for a hardware team is that a launch film can explain design intent as well as features. A strong recurring device helps the viewer understand why the product looks the way it does. Tratto is invented portfolio work; the range, motor and battery statements are elements of the fictional brief and not verified specifications for a commercial bicycle.
Why the film works this way
Use one continuous red line
The line begins as a pencil mark, defines the bicycle frame, tracks through the city and resolves into the logo. Reusing it at each stage makes the transitions feel like one developing thought instead of a collection of unrelated product shots.
Show refinement, including removal
Loose sketches and measurements accumulate before an eraser strips the drawing back. That subtraction gives visual meaning to the narration about taking things away and establishes the final frame as the result of deliberate choices.
Cross from drawing into product
The bicycle develops from graphite construction lines to a red technical outline and then a dimensional finished object. The staged transformation lets the product reveal carry narrative weight rather than appearing as an isolated beauty shot.
Place features inside the journey
The range statement accompanies the bicycle in a city scene; the hill message arrives as the route inclines. Associating each line with a visible riding condition makes the fictional specifications easier to understand at a glance.
Film transcript
Every ride starts with a line. Sketched a thousand times, until nothing was left to take away. Then we made it real. Motor and battery, hidden inside the frame. A hundred kilometres on a single charge. Hills? You won't even notice. Tratto. Draw your own line.
